AbcGrrrL loves me!

Time for a weekend update! Hope everyone had a great weekend, and all the girls that went to IMATS, yes you! I want to hear all about it and your haullll!!! :]

My weekend was pretty relaxing. On Saturday, the bf and I had hotpot for lunch at the Far East Mall in Richmond. While I was walking around, I spotted something familiar in the middle of the mall -- it was The Face Shop! Appearantly the Santa Clara store is thinking about opening another store in the bay area, and they are testing out the market in Richmond. So all you east bay girls, we might have our own The Face Shop soon! :)

Since AbcGrrrl (Edna) was driving to SF for Father's Day weekend, and we had planned on meeting up that afternoon on her way up, I called her in excitement to tell her to stop by and check out The Face Shop and meet there instead.

It was really exciting seeing Edna again, and this time I got to meet her sister as well :) We each brought "love bags" for each other, with stuff that we've been collecting for one another since the last time we've met.

Edna LOOOVVES me!! Look at all the goodies she carefully picked out for me, and my kitty-cat Mia too! She knows Mia liked a special treat that her cat Peter also liked, and gave me more :) She got me more Li Hing sour apples! She gave me a bag last time and I couldn't stop raving about how yummy those were. If you haven't tried it, you've got to try this Hawaiian snack...yummiest thing ever!

Of course, what's a beauty blogger w/out beauty products! Edna got me my first 2 China Glaze nail polishes, including "For Audrey". A while ago she was asking me whether if I have that color, and I told her no. Now I know why she was asking! You sneaky sneaky :p She also knows that we both love the Benefit creaseless cream shadow/liner, and gave me another one in R.S.V.P -- a great color to add to my collection. That Benefit Kitten body puff is just the cutest thing ever, and she knows I'm a sucker for anything cat related :) Then she gave me a sample of Benefit That Gal primer to try, because she told me it was one of her favorites. I'll try that soon and let you all know how it is! The orange tube is the warming lotion that Fuz mentioned in one of her Imomoko hauls before, it's suppose to warm up your body on contact for those chilly days. We both thought this would be perfect for the chilly SF weather, I can't wait to try this out! (just have to wait for the weather to cool down soon! haha) Edna also gave me her Bumble and bumble thickening spray. I always complain to her about how flat my hair is and that I'm always looking for products to volumize my hair. So she gave me hers to try!

I am saving the best for the last to introduce! Not only did she write me a sweet love note, but check out her cute business card!!! They have the cutest design in the back! Thank you sooooo much Love! I love everything you picked for me, and I can't wait to see you again soon :D

So back to The Face Shop, here is what I got, not so much (...wait till you check out Edna's haul :p). We both gave each other the Okay to purchase some stuff this time because 1) we never get to visit The Face Shop since the store is so far away from us, and it was rare that they came to the east bay, 2) we are (almost) done with Project 20! I'll update on that in a later post :)

More sheet masks, a green based primer (which works really well on evening out my red cheeks), and an apple flavored hand cream that smells oh-so-good and looks sooo cute!

Also, the sales lady told us that if you go to their website, and see anything you liked. You could call their Santa Clara store, and they could ship the products to you! Here is their business card w/ contact info:

On Sunday, we went to visit Mia. She's being taken care of by the bf's dad while we are preparing to move.

This is Mia during her car ride:

A picture of her shamelessly licking her foot and giving me the dirty eyes:

I also bought some pretty beads and another thin-nosed plier for doing my crafts. I'll talk more about my recent creations later :)

And finally, I'll finish off the post with my golden kiwi! I tried these bigger, sweeter version of green kiwifruit during my trip to New Zealand and loved it! So I was really excited when I found some in the grocery store. It's sooooooo good!

Project 20 Pan Update

Exciting news, exciting news!!! Lulu and Co. found their first home this week :) What follows next will lots of paperworks, meeting with various people to get loans approved, inspections started, etc etc etc…right in the middle of the busiest few weeks of work and research for me. As a result I’ve been feeling so overwhelmed and stressed about everything that’s going on, yet super excited about the possibility of moving into a real house of my own very soon! I also have been behind in my beauty blogger reading again! *sigh* must catch up before it’s too late! hehehehe :p

I’ve also been doing a teeny bit of shopping around, not for myself, but I would like to have my first blog contest soon, to celebrate the start of summer season, and to thank all my wonderful readers who have been so supportive! Please stay tuned for that soon :)

Today, I would like to give you a much belated update on my progress in “Project 20 Pan”. It’s been a while since I’ve started doing this with AbcGrrrL and both of us are doing super well with it :) We’ve already been plotting a huge shopping spree once we finish with our no-buy ban, hahaha it’s nice to be looking forward to that :p

Continued from last time

Product #3: Merlot Grape Seed Moisturizer

This light moisturizer is made from natural grape seed. It has antioxidant and anti-wrinkle properties, and has SPF 15. I used this product as my winter SPF lotion, and loved it so much. Its texture is a light gel consistency, and is very fast absorbent. It took me from last fall to May to finish this 4 fl. Oz. tub, with daily usage. Pretty good deal I say!

Product #4: Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief

I finished my night time moisturizer around the same time as my Merlot day time moisturizer. This is also a gel-like moisturizer that absorbs very quickly and makes skin feel so smooth and hydrated. This could also be slathered on as a 5-minute moisture mask, but most of the time I just pat it in my face before I go to sleep. I love how soft my face feels after I wake up.

Product #5: Neutrogena Oil-free Eye Makeup Remover

My everyday eye makeup remover. I’ve used up so many bottles of this. It works like a charm to remove even the toughest eyeliner and mascaras. And it’s a drugstore brand, so it’s super economical.

Product #6: Lypsyl LypMoisturizer Lip Balm

This lip balm is very moisturizing, and makes my lips remain moisturized until the morning. I love how cute the packaging is, the slider on the side pushes the product up, and it’s shaped like a yellow busy bee! :)

Product #7: Garnier Nutrioniste Skin Renew Daily Anti-fatigue Eye Cream

I used this day and night as the first layer of eye cream I apply on. Then in the night I follow up with a more moisturizing cream that contains anti-wrinkle formula. In the morning, I follow up with an eye cream with SPF. This light gel-like cream is easy to apply and absorb, but I don’t feel like it does anything for my eyes, in terms of de-puff, or diminish dark circles, help smooth out fine lines…that’s why I never used it alone because I don’t think it’s very effective.

Product #8: Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Breakage Defense Shampoo

Suppose to strengthen and fortify weak and exhausted hair to provide up to 90% less hair fall due to breakage in 1 month. Never completed the test to see whether if it was effective since I’ve only been using it on and off (too much shampoos in the shower to finish up, haha, it’s all LUSH’s fault :p). It’s an okay everyday shampoo.

Product #9: Gillette Satin Care Sensitive Skin Shave Gel

I’ve been using this brand of shaving gel for many many many years now and I’m always stocked up with this.

Product #10: Puritan’s Pride Vitamin E Cream

A scent-less creamy moisturizer for the face, neck and body. I’ve had this for a while, so glad to finally finish it off (I slathered a lot of it on my body every night…it’s the fastest way to finish off a product, hehehe :p)

Product #11: Daiweili OPC Multi-Effective Energizing Eye Cream

I bought this eye cream during my trip to China. It’s supposedly to be made from grape-seed extract as well. I didn’t want to put this around my eyes because it stung my eyes a little bit when I tried it. So I used it as a neck cream nightly. It’s very rich and makes my neck smooth and moisturized.

Last picture for today…my favorite appetizer: Onion Rings!!! *drool*

Favorite foundation tag + initial review of Korres scrub

Chomsiri started a FOUNDATION tag!

She said: "I want to see ALL of your foundations! Then tell me, out of all, which ONE is totally your favorite! (If you dont do this tag, you will get a huge zit the next day)"

haha no one wants huge zit the next day!!! So I'm doing this tag as soon as I can to avoid my potential zits :p Just kidding hehe :p

So my current stash of foundations, BB creams, tinted moisturizers, and all things base makeup:

From left to right (top row) -

1. Skin Food Aloe Sun BB Cream

2. L'egere Multi White BB Cream

3. L'egere Water Drop Shiny Pearl BB Cream

4. Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer

5. Everyday Minerals Semi-Matte Mineral Foundation

6. Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Mineral Loose Powder

7. Jane Be Pure Mineral Powder

Bottom row -

8. Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse

9. Rimmel Recover

10. Rimmel Lasting Finish Mineral Enhanced Formula

I no longer use number 6 to 9. Those are the drugstore products I had when I was still a makeup noob and didn't wear makeup as often. Those are just sitting in my drawers nowadays.

These are the ones I still use often nowadays:

I used to use Everyday Minerals' mineral powder foundation everyday, until I discovered BB creams. Now the mineral foundations have been sitting there collecting dust and BB creams are the ones I reach for most often everyday.

I still have so much Everday Minerals foundation laying around, but the good thing is they don't expire as fast as the liquid/cream ones right?

So which one is my favorite you might ask?

Of course the L'egere Multi White BB Cream! It matches my skintone well, doesn't feel heavy, controls oil on my face well, and applies smoothly and easily. This is definitely a re-purchase. Thanks to Fuz for introducing me to this :)

Initial Review on Korres Olive Stones Scrub

A few of you asked me to talk about my impression on this product. I got it for a super super discounted price on Friday. I tried it immediately during shower that night.

The product is for oily and combination skin.

The olive stones cleanse the pores, removing sebum and dead cells, and giving immediate radiance to the skin.  It contains ground olive stones, olive tree and calendular active extracts, as well as active aloe. It also claims to be dermatologically tested, mineral oil free, silicone free, propylene glycol free, and ethanolamine free.

The product comes out creamy with little pieces of ground up olive stones. It doesn't have any strong smell. I can't really tell what kind of smell it is, it has a really light fragrance, nothing too strong.

After gently scrubing this on my face, and rinsing off, my face felt immediately smoother and clean, like what you expect after exfoliating. It didn't hurt my skin like the harsh/coarser St. Ives Apricot Scrub from the drugstore. I liked the results, but the product is nothing spectacular. I wouldn't advice using this exfoliator more than once a week though since over exfoliating can harm your skin! For the price I paid for, I think it's TOTALLY worth it. But Sephora sells these at about $20 for a 40 mL (1.35 Fl. Oz) small tube....I am sure the product will last a while because just a pea sized amount would be sufficient every time. But if I have to pay full price for it, maybe I'd do more research on whether if there are better/cheaper alternatives first. I'll keep using this and let you know if my opinion changes after more uses.

Narita gave me an award!!!

It's an Adorable Blog Award. Thanks so much sweetie! :)

I award it to:

AbcGrrrL, Izumi, Fuzkittie, Eki, Miss Wiggle, ning * star, Chomsiri, Jian, Mayaari

and whoever is reading this. I wish I could keep going and tag everyone on my list but I need to head to bed soon :p

Hello Kitty Haul

It was a beautiful day today, and the bf and I decided to go to an outdoor mall and hang out.

What's a day without some yummy chocolates! We stopped by See's Candies and out came about a pound of chocolates enough to give me a big smile :D

At H&M, I found a pair of sunglasses that actually sits perfectly on the bridge of my Asian nose. Unlike the ones I had before that slip onto my face instead of staying on my nose! I love H&M and F21 sunglasses, they are perfect for just tossing in the bag or keeping one in the car so my eyes could be protected from the sun wherever I go!

Also at H&M, I found a whoooooooole lot of Hello Kitty themed clothes and hair accessories in their girls section. Too bad I won't fit into their toddler tshirts, haha :p But then, I stumbled upon these...

Hello Kitty underwear in girl's size, hahahahaha. Don't laugh yet! The biggest size they carry is a girl's size 13-14 years old. I pulled one out and looked at it, thinking, this is no smaller than my own! Plus they were too cute to pass up and all came in a cute pink plastic bag (makeup bag for me?). Once I got home I tried them on, and they fit perfectly. So if you want some Hello Kitty panties, go to the H&M girls' section and pick out the bigger sizes among them, hahaha. At $14.90 for 7, it's not a bad deal right?

Since I'm in a HK hunt mood today...

HK PJ set:

and the HK shower wrap that I've always been eyeing on:

Now I can use this while I'm putting on my face stuff and doing masks after shower :D

We are never too old for Hello Kitty! hehehe :p

Saw this Zirh Face Bar in TJ Maxx, and since I've been hearing some blogger girls talking about this brand for their boyfriend, I decided to get this for the boyfriend to try. He likes bar soap better than liquid ones too (hence why LUSH Coalface is his fav). This one contains alpha-hydroxy that might help him to get rid of some rough spots along his nose. I'll ask him to do a review of this one too once he starts using it. (I already made that clear in the store when I bought it, haha)

Last but not least, a beauty buy for me. Please forgive me for getting this one since I'm still not officially over my Project 20 Pan yet (I need to update my list soon!). But this one was TOO good to pass up!

It's a Korres Olive Stones Scrub for Oily and Combination Skin. It was the only Korres products laying around on the shelf, and I couldn't find the price tag on the box anywhere! So being the curious girl that I was, I asked the cashier for its price since I know this sells for about $20 at Sephora. The manager of the store nicely offered me a discounted price of $1, yes you read that right, he sold it to me for ONE dollar! I was hysterical when I heard that, especially since I've been wanting to try this product from Sephora!

It's basically an exfoliating scrub that you use once a week. I'll try it soon and let you know how it is :)

Hope you guys are all having a fun and relaxing weekend, don't forget to show me what you are buying at Sephora tomorrow if you are going to grab some stuff during their double points event! :)

Oh and for those in the bay area who already watched Pixar's new animated-film Up, do you also have the urge to visit Fentons Creamery? hahaha we did last night! We ordered two sundaes and I almost had an ice cream overload, since their sundaes are huge! Next time, we are sharing one, haha ^___^

My Latest Obsession: Jewelry Making

First of all, I wanted to say thanks to all my new subscribers. I started this blog just barely 2 months ago, and I've been receiving so much nice comments from all my readers, and it is your encouraging words that keep me motivated and keep me going! Thank you so much to the lovely beauty blogger community that welcomed me with open arms! Reading blogs and blogging is addiciting! hehe ;)

You know what else is addicting? Making jewelries! Once I started I just couldn't stop! Ever since I received my new order of Swarvoski crystals on Tuesday, I've been making new creations. So today, I am going to show you what I've made so far :)

This simple piece is inspired by Steph (DSK Jewelry)'s moon and star collection. Thanks Steph for inspiring me to make beautiful jewelries! Steph has a huge collection of Swarvoski crystal jewelries, and if you guys want pretty necklaces, go to her! She also makes custom orders so if you see a color or a design that you liked on her site, feel free to ask her :)

This bracelet is made for my best friend. Simple yet shiny and colorful. I hope she likes it :)

A dainty necklace with pink hearts, purple butterflies, and two tiny flowers to accompany the butterfly. This reminds me of my favorite season, spring.

A multi-layered design:

More details:

A pink heart overload bracelet:

One of my favorites -- blue starfish with 4 tiny dainty flowers:

Similar style but pink stars and pink flowers for my cousin:

Another very springy necklace with tiny flowers and butterflies:

Finally, a big purple brooch that had a broken pin, so it was converted into an antique looking necklace:

And a tiny cell phone charm to match my pink phone:

I've used up almost all the crystals I ordered from Time to make another order soon and keep making pretty jewelries. Next time, earrings! hehe :p

May Favorites + Swarovski Beads Haul

Hi I'm back! Sorry for the rather lack of updates recently. Work is driving me crazy and I am barely getting enough sleep. Yesterday I had a 10AM to 10PM day in lab and didn't even have time for a lunch break :( My experiment didn't turn out as well as I had hoped either, stupid samples. Those who work in the science field should understand my frustration. Anyhoo I am taking a nice lunch break at home today and resting, so I am going to update my blog :)
I know it's already June and I still haven't talked about my favorite items from May yet. So here we go!

♥ Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Birthday Suit:
A good base for any eyeshadows, makes color more vibrate and stay-put throughout the day. I've been using this product everyday. It's also perfect for those lazy or running-out-of-time days because I can simply swipe this cream on and get out of the door fast, yet it makes my eyes more vibrante and makes me seem more awake!
♥ Sephora Mini Heated Eyelash Curler:
It's pink! and it works :) I use this after applying mascara. Makes my lash curled for the whole day. For the best lash tutorial ever, please check out Fuz's video
♥ Kiss Me Heroine Make Mascara:
It doesn't weigh down my lashes, keeps them curled, makes them longer, and it's sweat, oil, tear and water proof :p Seriously it's probably the most hard-to-remove mascara I've ever tried and I love the fact that I won't come home racoon eyed :)
♥ MUFE Aqua Eyes:
Best eyeliner ever, I use this mainly to tightline. It stays put all day. Love love love! I need to get more colors of this.
♥ MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Duo:
Easy to carry around, a setting powder and a highlighter in one. I use the matte part everyday to set my makeup.
♥ Korres Primer:
I love the non-silicone feel of this primer, it feels more like a moisturizer, feels really light on skin, and helps me to control oil fairely well. Again, a daily product I use before I put on any sorts of makeup.
♥ MAC Brush Cleanser:
First time trying it, love the results. It's a quick way to clean my brushes daily, and then every week (or two weeks if I'm busy/lazy) I'd deep clean my brushes with baby shampoo and let 'em hang air dry.
♥ Ojon Rub Out Dry Cleanser:
It's a really good dry shampoo. Helps me to de-grease and fluff my end-of-the day hair or second day hair, and it volumizes too! The smell is a little bit too strong for my liking, but it's okay as long as it gives me volumized hair, hehe :)

That's a lot of favorite products for this month. Being on a makeup diet forces me to use the product I already have and keep using them. But at the same time I am also itchy to buy new products soon, especially from reading other beauty blogger's hauls recently.
Also, being on a makeup diet forces me to turn my attention to other hobbies. I made some Swarovski crystal jewelries the other day and I couldn't wait to try more. But Michael's was selling those supplies at a rather expensive price, so I went online and searched for supplier. I bought some beads and pendants from They ship directly from Hong Kong and it only took me a week to get my package. Shipping was based on weight, and I ordered 12 items, it only costed me a buck for shipping! The lack of packaging is probably where they save money on cost, so these beads are not as nicely packed as the ones you could find at Michael's, but I am glad nothing came cracked. I can't wait to make more jewelry soon :)

Last but not least, a fun tag I found from Chammy's blog:
